dinosaur guts

At first I was going to start keeping up a blog again 1/1/2011 but tour made that difficult. Then I said I’d start on my birthday 2/3/2011 but you know it was my birthday and I didn’t really want to do anything at all (I did go to my friend Tetsie’s birthday party, though, and saw many of my friends and ate five cupcakes so that was nice). Then I was going to make a super cute blog thing over at my heyholdmyhand.com thing. Well but things don’t always work out the way you hope they do, do they? And sometimes you gotta settle for something vs. the thought of nothing. So, here we go.

So with this effort, I’m just going to post music I come across from being in a band, in one way or another. When I worked at KVRX, it was so awesome to be surrounded by new music. Graduating college and getting a job made that a bit difficult, but now that I am in a band (and grad school) I get to do that more with the added bonus of really getting to see bands live first sometimes and then hear their recorded work, so you get a feel for how hard they work for their stuff.

One of my favorite acts this last tour was Liz Isenberg. She was kind enough to play a show with us in Providence, RI at this tyte place called AS220 which as rumor has it was started by a dude outta prison. Started out small, this lil bar quickly became a snazzy restaurant-art gallery-music venue, volunteer run friendly and fun. I was so very happy to wiggle our way into a show there as part of the BSHARP music showcase residency.

Liz has bright twinklin’ mischievous eyes, all smiles and herself. She was incredibly sweet to us imposing strangers. Her set totally blew me away. She usually plays more of an acoustic thing, but we were in for a treat as she was playing as part of a new project she started called ‘Trip Dicks’ which is her amongst these synths and a samplers and gadgets, Brendan on a midicontroller thing and Chris on bass. It was amazing!!! The whole room was captivated. Not to be lame, but as a girl, it was cool to see another girl pumping out these really earnest unique groovin’ tunes. I was in love. Then I had too much IPA and got silly and forgot about what else happened that night.
